Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime has discussed what he believes the Wii U must do to ensure it succeeds, expressing that it must “deliver a differentiated experience” rather than purely offering consumers HD visuals.
“The Wii U has to deliver a differentiated experience that can only be brought to bear through the use of these two screens”, Fils-Aime explains. “If all we do is a beautiful game in HD, it’s been done before. We have to take advantage of the second screen, we need to take advantage of the connectivity that the system will offer and, if we do that, we believe that we will yet again disrupt the market the same way we with DS and Wii.”
It would appear that we’ll have to wait until E3 2012 for more information as to how it will achieve this, with Nintendo CEO Satoru Iwata previously stating that it will wait until the event to unveil the “final format” of the company’s new home console.
