Fantasy Life sequel only destined for smartphones

We already knew that it would make an appearance at LEVEL-5’s Vision 2015 event, but early news of the company’s Fantasy Life sequel has been immediately met with disappointment.

Whether the original hadn’t sparked as much success as they’d hoped on Nintendo 3DS, Fantasy Life 2: Two Moons and the Village of God is only headed to iOS and Android devices.

LEVEL-5’s CEO Akihiro Hino talked through an on-stage gameplay demo, in which he confirmed that it will allow players to choose between 12 Lifes. Whereas a new Village feature will see you build your own city and look to continually expand its population, with such elements being core to the experience this time around.

We’d found Nintendo 3DS exclusive Fantasy Life an endearing title, writing in our review: “Fantasy Life is nothing short of a sleeper hit, with the game underpinned by smart design decisions throughout. While the relative ease of the adventure may deter those looking for a greater challenge, placing the experience at the whim of the player means that you are never short of finding something to pour more hours into. It’s a game that keeps on giving, and it’s all the better for it.”

Fantasy Life 2: Two Moons and the Village of God launches in Japan this summer, with no word as to a western release.
