“Thanks for everything Mr. Iwata!” It’s a brief message from NeoGAF, but the wider gaming community has been at a loss for words after news emerged that the Nintendo president had passed away.
It is one of many tributes being placed outside Nintendo of America’s headquarters in Redmond, Washington. Staff have highlighted them as they leave for the day, another seeing a Silver Mario amiibo clutching a bunch of bananas.
Meanwhile, New York’s Nintendo World has invited fans to visit their memorial where visitors can pay their respects by leaving their messages and fond memories. Written in notebooks, these will then be forwarded on to Nintendo of America.
Rest in peace, Iwata-san.
