Hordes of fans braved the cold conditions that are currently besetting the UK this morning, as they donned gorilla suits and lumbered banana bunches to a trio of GAME and GameStation stores to trade their bundles of fruit for a free copy of Nintendo’s latest Wii exclusive release, Donkey Kong Country Returns.
Nintendo had teamed up with the UK games retailer to ‘sell’ the title for a bunch of bananas, allowing dedicated fans to skip paying the RRP of £44.99.
“I love the Donkey Kong games”, commented long-time Donkey Kong fan Roger Tantchev. “I would have queued to get my hands on it as soon as possible anyway, but to have got the game for just a bunch of bananas is a huge bonus!”
