Famitsu praise Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D in world exclusive review

Resident Evil 3DS1

Japanese magazine Famitsu has this week published their review for Capcom’s Nintendo 3DS title, Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D, with each of the four reviewers seemingly impressed – awarding the game 9, 8, 8 and 8 respectively, with an overall score of 33/40.

Comments praised the feel of controls, which are largely unchanged from Resident Evil 5, and the impressive graphics that are of especially high quality for a portable console. The ability to move whilst aiming your gun is a notable bonus, and you’ll easily become addicted to score attack and strengthening your skills.

Co-operative play is also particularly exciting, with the team commenting that there’s plenty of strategy to be found in character selection, and by using objects and terrain scattered across maps. They did, however, place criticism on the narrow field of view, although it can create a sense of tension and fear.

Completing the game with one character will take you an approximate 8 hours, meaning that the review team stated their belief that there is over 80 hours packed into the cart.

Alongside this, Famitsu also reviewed Konami and Hudson’s Touch Double Pen Sports – known as Dual Pen Sports in Europe and North America. The title was awarded 8, 8, 7 and 8 (31/40), with the reviewers commenting that clearing all modes takes in excess of 30 hours and commended the ability to play with two stylus’, although a single stylus may be used, stating that it was very fresh.
