Facebook R&D Division win Super Mario Maker Hackathon

Nintendo of America took a trip to Facebook Headquarters in Menlo Park this week, where the company’s R&D Division triumphed in the Super Mario Maker Hackathon.

The two-day event allowed the social network’s employees to set aside their daily responsibilities to design a level for the Wii U exclusive, with a panel of judges deciding the winning individual or team.

Nintendo Treehouse’s Corey Olcsvary announced Facebook’s Doug Strait and Roy McElmurry as the winners, whose Ship Love level will be made available to players for free shortly after Super Mario Maker launches.

Super Mario Maker will release exclusively for Wii U in Japan on September 10th, and worldwide on September 11th.
