Whitethorn Games and Balloon Studios have announced that the exploration puzzler Botany Manor will release on Nintendo Switch, news that was shared in this week’s Indie World showcase.
Set as a stately home in 19th century England, which you will explore through the eyes of its sole inhabitant – the retired botanist Arabella Greene. You must search her house and gardens – filled with botanical notes, books and posters – to discover the right habitat for her precious collection of rare, forgotten flora.
The interactable items scattered around the manor and grounds must be used to solve plant-based puzzles, and, as each plant starts to grow, you may discover that they hide some mysterious qualities…
“With Botany Manor, I wanted to create a game for underrepresented audiences like myself,” explains Balloon Studios founder Laure De Mey. “I’m proud of the work we’ve done, and grateful for the support from my team and the team at Whitethorn Games.”

The publisher has outlined the game’s key features as below:
- Seeds of the Past: Room by room, learn more about the life and career of Arabella, and the challenges she faced as a woman navigating her scientific career.
- Fawning Over Flora: The puzzles in Botany Manor come in the shape of growing plants. Find seeds, pot them and carry your seedlings to the right environment. But finding their ideal habitat will sometimes require you to think outside the box…
- Stop and Smell the Roses: Botany Manor is a relaxing and peaceful environment, with many rooms and gardens to discover. Take the time to enjoy the beautifully rendered countryside, 19th-century architecture, and of course, the flora.
Botany Manor will release digitally on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch worldwide in 2023.
