North Star Digital Studios has revealed that Evolution: The Video Game will release on Nintendo Switch.
Based on the Evolution Board Game, this turn-based strategy game of adaptation comes to the portable home console with new features such as monthly multiplayer tournaments and pass and play.
You will be challenged to selectively develop a species to survive the harsh realities of the natural world.
The “intuitive learn-while-playing tutorial” will help you start out from humble beginnings, choosing traits that will benefit your species the most – whether that be developing protection against predators, for example, or adapting to reach previously inaccessible food.
The campaign mode will confront you with enemy A.I. bosses, whereas pass and play multiplayer means a group of friends can try to create the most capable species.
Evolution: The Video Game will also come to Nintendo Switch with cross-platform online multiplayer, letting you take on opponents from around the world through a skill-based matchmaking system.
“We love the Nintendo Switch’s capabilities for digital board games like Evolution,” explains North Star Digital Studios president and co-founder Scott Rencher.
“The speed of controller-based play is a great game experience, and the pass-and-play nature of the console offers that warm sense of community we love fostering with the board game.”
Evolution: The Video Game will release on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch worldwide in early 2020.
