Nintendo has confirmed that every amiibo will work with Pokkén Tournament, the Pokémon brawler becoming the latest game to support their ever expanding foray into the toys-to-life market.
While the Shadow Mewtwo amiibo card will unlock the mysterious Psychic-type Pokémon as a playable character, any other amiibo can be scanned to unlock “in-game items.” More specific details will become available in the coming weeks, ahead of the game’s worldwide launch mid-March.
It was recently announced that Pokkén Tournament had joined the EVO 2016 official line-up, with organiser Joey ‘Mr. Wizard’ Cuellar sharing that they had “decided to take a chance” on the Wii U exclusive’s inclusion.
Pokkén Tournament will release exclusively for Wii U worldwide on March 18th.
