Etrian Odyssey and Mystery Dungeon announced as a 3DS exclusive

ATLUS were joined by Spike Chunsoft’s Koichi Nakamura yesterday, announcing during a special livestream that they were collaborating to develop Etrian Odyssey and Mystery Dungeon.

The Mystery Dungeon series, whose early existence began as a Dragon Quest spin-off, is more largely known in the west through the Pokémon Mystery Dungeon games – most recently in Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity.

ATLUS’s Etrian Odyssey will be transitioned into the Mystery Dungeon format, moving away from the dungeon-crawling design that has dominated its history. You can see how more clearly in the debut trailer which the publisher released below!

Etrian Odyssey and Mystery Dungeon will release exclusively for Nintendo 3DS in Japan on March 5th.
