The Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) has issued a rating for Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door on Nintendo Switch, suggesting that Nintendo is readying the remastered RPG for launch on the portable home console.

“This is an adventure role-playing game in which players help Mario rescue Princess Peach from an alien group,” the ESRB rating reads. “As players traverse whimsical worlds, they interact with characters and engage in turn-/puzzle-based combat against paper creatures.

“Players use various attacks (e.g., boot stomp, hammer strike, fire balls) against cartoony enemies that disappear into stars and coins. A handful of characters engage in brief flirtatious dialogue (e.g., “Aren’t you a fine specimen of a man”; “Perhaps if I…grabbed you and gave you a little sugar”), and/or are designed with large chests/exaggerated proportions.”

Revealed in September’s Nintendo Direct, Intelligent Systems’ fan-favourite sequel makes a return on the portable home console “with enhanced graphics,” inviting you to once again turn the page and join Mario and his pals on their adventure to discover the legendary treasure behind the ancient Thousand-Year Door.

Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door will be released at retail and digitally on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch worldwide in 2024.
