505 Games and Rabbit & Bear Studios have confirmed that Eiyuden Chronicle: Rising will release on Nintendo Switch this week.

This “fast-paced 2.5D action RPG with town-upgrading elements” serves as a companion prequel to the upcoming Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes, with the game’s development headed by Suikoden co-creator Yoshitaka Murayama and NatsumeAtari.

After a massive earthquake unearths Runebarrows beneath a town on the remote frontier of the Allraan known as New Nevaeh, fortune-seeking adventurers and merchants from across the world arrive. Among them are three star-crossed heroes – the venerable scavenger CJ, the Beastman mercenary Garoo and the young deputy mayor Isha – two of which want to mine the Rune Lens, and the other wanting nothing more than to rebuild her town.

You will be able to switch between each character in combat, dashing in quick to strike with CJ’s climbing axes, sling sorcery from a safe distance as Isha or punishing foes with Garoo’s gigantic sword. To topple the game’s imaginative bosses, you can unleash Link Attacks that combine each hero’s speciality.

The dungeons that you scavenge will reward you with materials that can be used to restore New Neveah to its former glory, rewarding you with benefits that will apply to Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes upon release. That crossover content includes “special cosmetic items, valuable equipment and trade goods,” while you can name certain weapons and delicacies which will also carry over.

Eiyuden Chronicle: Rising will release digitally on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch worldwide on 10th May 2022, priced at £12.99 ($14.99).
