EarthBound Beginnings announced for Wii U Virtual Console

The Nintendo World Championships 2015 began with a surprise announcement, with EarthBound creator Shigesato Itoi revealing in a special message that EarthBound Beginnings has received a sudden release through Wii U’s Virtual Console service today.

This marks the first time that Mother has seen release outside of Japan, which first launched for Famicom way back in 1989.

Most will be more familiar with Itoi’s critically-acclaimed sequel EarthBound, which, having launched in US, was released worldwide through Wii U’s Virtual Console service in July 2013.
