After enduring numerous leaks, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot and Nintendo’s legendary Shigeru Miyamoto took to the Orpheum Theatre stage to open the Ubisoft E3 2017 Conference with Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle.

The Nintendo Switch exclusive will see the Mushroom Kingdom thrown into chaos by a mysterious vortex, that sees Mario, Peach, Luigi, and Yoshi soon come to the rescue. But, as Ubisoft points out, nobody knows chaos quite like the Rabbids, and four long-eared heroes – Rabbid Mario, Rabbid Peach, Rabbid Luigi, and Rabbid Yoshi – will help save the Mushroom Kingdom.

The Mushroom Kingdom has been turned upside-down – iconic green pipes are now white with Rabbid ears, and other familiar sights have been affected by the vortex. You will collect coins, solve puzzles, and find hidden chests containing items and gear that will help your team grow stronger against the increasingly challenging enemies that you will face.

Turn-based battles will see your team wield ranged and melee weapons, using the surrounding environment to take cover as you fire at your enemies.

You will choose three out of the eight heroes to make up your team, which can be freely swapped to try different combinations. Each hero has their own weapons and abilities, that can be combined to deal extra damage and affect your enemies – such as setting their butts on fire.

The single-player adventure will span four worlds, with Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle also including co-op challenges in which each player controls two heroes each. You can also use amiibo to unlock new in-game features – although Ubisoft has not yet specified what these are.

Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle will release exclusively on Nintendo Switch worldwide on August 29th.
