Koei Tecmo has announced that Dynasty Warriors 8: Empires will release on Nintendo Switch, seeing players become a hero from the Three Kingdom era as they set out to unify ancient China under their rule.

That conquest will see you earn promotions in battle, make slanderous statements against others to provoke them, and hone your skills as a warrior, with more personal pursuits thrown in such as developing your officer’s abilities or getting married and having children. And then, there’s your kingdom to keep an eye on, where you will have to manage the retirement and succession of rulers.

Strategy comes in Large Scale Stratagems, where your allies will temporarily retreat from battle while your chosen tactics play out, while Instant Bases will let you build in open areas of land to help attack and defend bases across the map. And, Dynasty Warriors 8: Empires was when developer Omega Force introduce a mechanic where the time of day and weather had an effect on battles, whether that be launching a raid at night or a fire spreading more quickly in the wind.

The Edit Mode lets you create a custom character, with new editable parameters even going as far as to let you tweak facial contours, wrinkles, and facial hair, with players free to upload and download customised officers, units, and scenarios.

And, the Nintendo Switch version will include all the downloadable content that has been previously released for other platforms.

Dynasty Warriors 8: Empire will release for Nintendo Switch in Japan on November 9th, priced at 6,800 yen.
