Capcom has announced that Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen is in development for Nintendo Switch 2, news that was shared in today’s Nintendo Direct presentation.
This single-player, narrative-driven action-RPG series challenges you to choose your own experience, from the appearance of your Arisen, their vocation, their party, how to approach different situations and more.
With a dynamic fantasy world to explore, you will be joined by mysterious otherworldly beings called Pawns on your journey “in an adventure so unique you will feel as if accompanied by other players while on your own adventure.”
The Dark Arisen expansion will summon you to the long-abandoned Northern region of Norgan, where you must join forces with the enigmatic Eir to unravel the secrets of the undying Fallen Dragon. Throughout this expanded journey, you must unearth and appraise forgotten relics to unlock powerful new weapons and skills.
“The expansion also introduces 12 Lost Rites Dungeon Challenges,” the publisher explains in a press release. “These freshly uncovered dungeons house trials designed by the Pathfinder to sharpen the Arisen’s skills and recover rare equipment once held by past Arisen that now lie dormant. Arisen looking to tailor their appearance will also gain access to new options added to the robust Character Creator, including new hairstyles and tattoos.”
The publisher has outlined the game’s key features, which include:
- Action that challenges your creativity: Wield swords, bows, and chant magick. The vocations in Dragon’s Dogma 2 give you the ability to approach combat the way you want.
- Company in your single-player experience: Players can customise their own main Pawn, who will always accompany your Arisen, and enter a covenant with up to 2 additional Pawns from other players through the network.
- Facing the monsters in this world: Beyond the town borders, you will encounter diverse monsters that inhabit the lands. You will need to decide between engaging in battles or finding alternatives; so be aware of your party’s setup, the terrain around you, and the monsters you face.
- Inhabitants of this world: Travelers, merchants, soldiers and other folk go about their daily lives. Preoccupied by their own objectives and motives, they all exhibit different emotions. At times, they may lead you to a quest by approaching you and asking for a favour.
Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen will be released at retail and digitally on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch 2 worldwide on 9 October 2026.
