Bethesda Softworks surprised the world when DOOM was announced for Nintendo Switch, and with graphics comparisons soon appearing online the publisher has offered some vague pointers on what to expect from the game’s performance on the portable home console.

That reveals that it has been “custom-built” for Nintendo Switch and that, unsurprisingly, the “graphics won’t be 1:1 with other platforms.” However, we’re still promised that it will match the “look and feel” that many will expect.

“DOOM on Switch is custom-built for the hardware and while graphics won’t be 1:1 with other platforms, the game will deliver the amazing DOOM look and feel that fans are excited to get on Switch,” a Bethesda spokesperson explained to USGamer.

When the Union Aerospace Corporation’s massive research facility on Mars is overwhelmed by fierce and powerful demons, as the lone DOOM Marine you have been activated to kill them all.

Beating back Hell’s relentless demon hordes will leave you no chance to take cover or regenerate health, as you unload futuristic and iconic guns, as well as relying on upgrades, movement and an advanced melee system that will let you knock-down, slash, stomp, crush, and blow them apart in particularly violent ways.

DOOM will release for Nintendo Switch worldwide in Winter 2017.
