Ditto Location In Pokémon GO Remains A Mystery

Niantic CEO John Hanke remains tight-lipped as to how players will be able to catch Ditto in Pokémon GO.

The developer has so far not confirmed plans around how or when players will be able to obtain Legendary Pokémon such as Articuno, Zapdos, Moltres, Mewtwo, and Mew. These are expected to become available in scheduled events, but Ditto’s absence has been more mystifying given that, despite the Pokémon’s mirthful character, it isn’t as prestigious a capture.

The purple Normal-type Pokémon can rearrange its cell structure to transform itself into other shapes, an ability that it often uses to take on another Pokémon’s appearance.

“I can’t tell you how to find Ditto, because that wouldn’t be any fun when you did find him if you did,” Hanke responded at TechCrunch Disrupt SF 2016, asked as to where Ditto is located. “It will happen for you, I promise.”

  1. Ditto spawned on my screen on Friday the 16th as I was leaving work in Thermal, CA. I had my phone on the passenger seat trying to Hatch eggs, and by time I picked it up and tried to engage Ditto, he disappeared. I didn’t even know who Ditto was until I looked up the original Pokemon map. Needless to say I was a little bummed, could have had the first Ditto. I will be heading into work early tomorrow to try and find homes again.

  2. Hmmm. No screen capture? mind taking a screen shot of your pokedex showing his silhouette?
