Gameloft has announced that its free-to-play kart racer Disney Speedstorm will receive a free upgrade to improve the game’s performance on Nintendo Switch 2.
To be made available on Thursday 3 July, that upgrade will be pushed live alongside the game’s Season 14 update “No Toy Gets Left Behind!” This unlocks Buzz Lightyear and Bo Peep for free, and adds Forky (Defender), Lotso (Trickster) and Emperor Zurg (Brawler) as new playable racers.
Writing in an in-game news post, the developer shared: “Starting with this season’s update, players on Nintendo Switch 2 can look forward to a much smoother, sharper racing experience thanks to performance enhancements exclusive to the new hardware:
- The FPS cap has been raised to 60, delivering buttery-smooth racing compared to the previous 30 FPS limit.
- Enjoy 1080p in handheld mode and up to 1440p when docked for a crisper, more detailed look.
- A number of other visual improvements such as better shadows, anti-aliasing, and shader quality to bring even more visual polish to every track.
“These upgrades are exclusive to Nintendo Switch 2 players, so make sure your game is updated to get the most out of what the new console has to offer.”
Disney Speedstorm is now available digitally on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 worldwide.
