Infinity Ward has revealed that it has worked with Digital Legends Entertainment to port Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 to Nintendo Switch 2.

“We’ve been working alongside Digital Legends as partners, getting this working natively on the Nintendo Switch [2]. They’ve been killing it,” Infinity Ward technical designer Jack Hoppus explained during the CODNext Showcase 2026. “They’re making sure that the game looks and feels as great as it can. We’ve got a couple of these in the bullpen we pulled up in the play tests. It’s been a great partnership.”

Activision Blizzard acquired Digital Legends in October 2021, and has supported development on Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and Call of Duty: Black Ops 7.

You can participate in the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 Open Beta on Nintendo Switch 2 in Weekend Two, which runs from Friday 28 August – Tuesday 1 September 2026.

With this next game, the developer has looked to push the series “into darker and more dangerous territory, where consequence and escalation bring long-running storylines to a powerful and emotional breaking point.”

The Campaign will drop you into trench warfare in Korea, close-quarters combat in New York, high-octane chases through Paris, SAS night raids in Mumbai, and city-wide assaults to reclaim occupied territory.

Whereas Multiplayer promises to deliver “grounded, precise combat where fluid movement, player choice, and greater control define every engagement.” It will introduce Ballistic Authority, which is pitched as “a new weapons-first innovation that brings the most authentic Modern Warfare gunplay yet.”

You can expect the game to launch with 12 Core maps and Kill Block, which is described as being “a new and dynamic battleground that reconfigures its layout between rounds across more than 500 configurations.” DMZ returns as an extraction experience, in which either solo players or squads are dropped into a shifting combat zone where every deployment will play out differently.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 will be released at retail and digitally on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch 2 worldwide on 23 October 2026.
