With battery life quickly becoming a primary concern, Digital Foundry has looked to evaluate the best portable charger for Nintendo Switch.

The test method was to play The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild at max settings and 50 percent volume, and with Wi-Fi enabled.

It was the Anker Powercore 10,000mAh Portable Charger (£20) that was up first, which was able to add an extra 5 hours to the play session or, with the screen brightness lowered to 50 percent, can reach 5 hours 49 minutes.

The Lumsing Glory P2 15,000mAh Portable Charger (£21.99) added 6 hours 20 minutes when playing with max settings, or, with the brightness reduced, that can reach 7 hours 22 minutes. This makes it the best value when considering the “most minutes per pound,” seeing that your play session could easily reach 10 hours with the Nintendo Switch battery factored in.

The third choice was the RavPower 26,800mAh Portable Charger (£35.99), which, when playing with maximum brightness, could extend your play session with an additional 10 hours 20 minutes. Or, with the brightness lowered to 50 percent, another 12 hours and 2 minutes.

Each portable charger provided enough power to run the game and steadily charge the Nintendo Switch at the same time, and, as a reminder, you may need to buy either a USB-C to USB 3.0 or USB-C to USB-C cable.
