DICE’s technical director Johan Andersson has shared that their latest Frostbite 3 engine has never been successfully running on Wii U.
“The new Star Wars games we at @EA_DICE & @VisceralGames will make will all be built with Frostbite 3,” he shared through social media site Twitter, regarding Electronic Arts’ exclusive licensing deal for Star Wars.
After a retort that such a statement would mean the developer wouldn’t deliver any games to Nintendo’s console, Andersson responded: “FB3 has never been running on Wii U. We did some tests with not too promising results with FB2 & chose not to go down that path.”
With Microsoft and Sony pushing forward with their next-generation hardware, it strikes a further blow to Nintendo after it was confirmed that Unreal Engine 4 wouldn’t support Wii U either.
