After an earlier announcement regarding Devil’s Third‘s Japanese launch, Nintendo have confirmed that the Wii U exclusive will see release in Europe on August 28th.

From Dead or Alive series creator and Ninja Gaiden mastermind Tomonobu Itagaki, Devil’s Third promises players “an over-the-top, third-person action shooter that combines modern military weaponry with ninja-style swordplay and melee combat.”

Leap into the game’s single-player campaign and you will trace former mercenary Ivan’s path to redemption, who, freed from imprisonment, looks to right the wrongs of his past by taking down the terrorist group he once belonged to. After the world’s satellites and electrical weaponry are taken offline, warfare is reduced to close combat between soldiers, with Ivan relying on weaponry that will let him shoot, hack and bludgeon his way through any opposition. That brutality is more than likely responsible for the game’s 18+ rating in the UK, promising players “bone-crunching finishing moves galore.”

As with Splatoon, it will similarly push Nintendo’s online capacity in delivering a clan-based multiplayer mode that revolves around action, resource management and strategy. In this grim future, terrorists have won and chaos reigns supreme. Players will join a clan as an ordinary citizen, either looking to reclaim the United States by allying with other factions or by acting as a mercenary to assault other player’s bases. Devil’s Third will allow you to customise your base with your clan, with success in battles allowing you to improve your defences.

Devil’s Third will launch exclusively for Wii U in Japan on August 4th, and in Europe on August 28th.
