Capcom has announced that the original Devil May Cry will release on Nintendo Switch in the coming months, a game that had once redefined the action genre.

First released for PlayStation 2 in 2001, Devil May Cry stars the demon hunter Dante. Son to a human mother and a devil father named Sparda, Dante is a half-demon who must his abilities and the powers of ancient demons to fight a one-man war against the forces of darkness in the hope of saving humanity from damnation.

It later went on to receive sequels in Devil May Cry 2 and Devil May Cry 3, but, even though these were later ported to other consoles with the Devil May Cry HD Collection, Capcom has made the somewhat baffling decision to only bring the original game to the portable home console at first.

Devil May Cry will release for Nintendo Switch worldwide in Summer 2019.
