After Beyond Good & Evil creator Michel Ancel teased that a sequel was nearing announcement, Ubisoft has confirmed that a new Beyond Good & Evil game is now in development.

Ancel had spent the last week posting concept artwork on his personal Instagram account, and now Ubisoft has announced that he is working with their Ubisoft Montpellier studio on the project.

“If you’ve been waiting for news about BG&E… well, here you go! We are delighted to confirm that Michel Ancel is currently working with the Ubisoft Montpellier Studio on a new Beyond Good & Evil game,” the publisher shared on Facebook.

The original Beyond Good & Evil saw release on GameCube in 2003, but, although teased at Ubidays 2008, a sequel never came. Earlier this year, it was reported that Nintendo had negotiated with Ubisoft to secure Beyond Good & Evil 2 as a Nintendo NX exclusive, a rumour that the publisher had soon tried to silence.

The third-party publisher has openly shared their support for Nintendo NX since July, later adding that they have high hopes in that it stands a chance at recapturing a casual audience.
