Detective Pikachu Appears To Be An Episodic Series

Warning! This article contains spoilers for Detective Pikachu: Birth of a New Duo!

The Pokémon company has dabbled in free-to-start games and anything in between, but it appears that Detective Pikachu: Birth of a New Duo will see release as an episodic series.

The electric mouse’s detective adventure saw release on the Nintendo eShop in Japan yesterday, but it hasn’t taken long for players to reach the end of its five-hour tale. Priced at 1200 yen (£7), it would be easy to scorn such length. But our friends at Serebii share that, when the game comes to a close, Mewtwo soars across the screen and ‘To Be Continued’ is displayed.

That means that this will be the first of multiple episodes, a fact that is backed up by Detective Pikachu’s subtitle in that this is the ‘birth’ of the deductive adventure.

Detective Pikachu: Birth of a New Duo is now available on Nintendo eShop for Nintendo 3DS in Japan, with no confirmation regarding a western release.
