Developers participating within the 24-hour Derry GameCraft game jam will compete for the unique opportunity to see their concept rewarded with a commercial self-published release through the Nintendo eShop on Wii U.

Three participating teams at the event, which forms part of the CultureTECH Festival in Derry-Londonderry, will be offered a Bright Future Kit from Nintendo. This enticing prize provides “a developer fast-track authorisation, free access to a Wii U development kit and Nintendo’s tech support, and also includes, if desired, in-depth game design feedback on their game in development from Nintendo’s game evaluation team.”

The theme of the game jam will be confirmed alongside the event starting on Friday 13th September at 7pm, and winning entries will also receive goodie bags filled with Nintendo merchandise, with all participants in the Wii U category receiving a t-shirt to commemorate the occasion.

Nintendo will be at the event to provide on-site access to hardware development kits and software tools, providing indie developers with an opportunity to explore Wii U development through using the Nintendo Web Framework, which allows for Wii U development using HTML5 and JavaScript.

Additionally, participants will receive a free unlimited non-commercial license for the JavaScript game engine Impact, by courtesy of its creator. Impact support for the Nintendo Web Framework was first announced at GDC Europe in August.
