DeNA West CEO Shintaro Asako recently discussed the company’s plans with Nintendo at Pocket Gamer Connects in San Francisco.

As the late Nintendo president Satoru Iwata had previously confirmed, the first game produced between the two companies will be out by the end of 2015. Then, four more are to arrive before March 2017.

“I understand some people like RPGs, casual games. That’s why we decided to work together to create five games, hitting on different genre-utilising IPs,” Asako shared.

“We want to make sure out of those five IP that we can end up attracting hundreds of millions of people.”

Despite having worked with licenses such as Transformers, Disney and Marvel, he described the deal that they have struck with Nintendo as “the most crucial partnership.” Although it also results in a significant challenge to them both, as “people are expecting a lot.”
