tobyfox has confirmed that DELTARUNE Chapters 1-4 will let you use mouse controls in a “very small special room” on Nintendo Switch 2.
“As an effort to make the most of being a LAUNCH TITLE for the Nintendo Switch 2, I really wanted to try to do something special…,” the developer explained in a newsletter.
“So, we made a very small SPECIAL ROOM which takes advantage of using MOUSE CONTROLS ON TWO CONTROLLERS AT ONCE, only possible on the Nintendo Switch 2!! You can see it in the trailer!!
“But, don’t worry! Even if you can’t get your hands on a Nintendo Switch 2 right away, the other versions of the game also have THE SPECIAL ROOM, with a completely different control scheme! (To clarify, all non-Nintendo Switch 2 versions have the exact same content as each other.)
“There is no meaningful difference in content amount, dialogue, setting, music etc between any version, so you will have a full package of fun no matter which you get! No one gets left out!
“And — just to clarify for the cats in the back — no matter what version you buy, EVERYONE gets PLUEY — for FREE!!!”
This heartfelt journey of humour and friendship is a parallel story to UNDERTALE, in which you must fight (or spare) your way through action-packed battles while exploring a mysterious world alongside an endearing cast of new and familiar characters.
The developer has outlined the game’s key features, which include:
- A massive soundtrack and story written by Toby Fox!
- Meet new and endearing main characters, as well as familiar faces like Toriel, Sans, as more. Huh? Papyrus? No, he’s busy. Sorry
- Smooth and expressive pixel-animation by Temmie. She also has a new hat (in-game)
- A linear, chapter-based system that you can pick up from anywhere.
- Creative bullet-dodging based battles inspired by games like Touhou and Chrono Trigger.
- Jevilishly difficult hidden bosses.

DELTARUNE Chapters 1-4 will be released digitally on the Nintendo eShop for both Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 on 5 June 2025.
