Dame Helen Mirren was reportedly paid a staggering £500,000 to star within Nintendo’s advertising line-up for the Christmas period, in which she promotes Wii Fit Plus. Mirren, a renowed Oscar-winning actress, received the impressive sum for shooting the commercials across two days.
Within the TV advert, shen is seen using the game whilst providing glowing praise in regards to the number of exercises available, to which she comments “You need never get bored as every day you can tailor a new workout.”
Nintendo had apparently insisted that she be used for the latest advertising campaign, as her glamorous looks and appeal will hopefully attract and expand a targeted audience of over-50’s to the game.
A friend of Mirren’s revealed the publisher’s aims in targeting such an audience, commenting: “Nintendo insisted they wanted Helen and no one else. They wanted an older, more attractive woman to show that the Wii isn’t just for children.”
