The Pokémon Company International has revealed Cyclizar for Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet, news that was shared in the Closing Ceremony of the 2022 Pokémon World Championships.

The Pokémon Company president and CEO Tsunekazu Ishihara made a second appearance to close the event, sharing a new trailer for the upcoming Nintendo Switch exclusives. This revealed Cyclizar – a Dragon and Normal-type Pokémon – as well as an early look at how new gameplay mechanics will impact the competitive scene.

Cyclizar knows a new move called Shed Tail, which, when used, sees the user create “a substitute for itself using its own HP before switching places with a party Pokémon in waiting.”

Category: Mount Pokémon
Type: Dragon/Normal
Height: 5’3″
Weight: 138.9 lbs.
Ability: Shed Skin

This Pokémon has lived in many households in the Paldea region since ancient times. It has a mild disposition, and people riding Cyclizar are a very common sight. It appears Cyclizar don’t mind being ridden because the warmth of a rider helps stave off the cold.

Cyclizar can sprint at over 70 mph while carrying a human. Its extremely hard head and thick, lithe tail are not only useful for maintaining balance and absorbing shocks while sprinting—they also provide effective ways to attack during battles.

Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet are promised to “take a new evolutionary step in the Pokémon main series,” with players offered the chance to “explore an open world where various towns with no borders blend seamlessly into the wilderness.” You will see Pokémon everywhere in this “wide-open world,” whether in the skies, in the sea, or on the streets.

You will start your adventure in the Paldea region, which is described as being “a land of vast open spaces dotted with lakes, towering peaks, wastelands, and mountain ranges.” There are lots of people and Pokémon living together in a variety of locations, such as “a farming village with bountiful harvests to a port town with a bustling marketplace.” Pokémon also call treetops, rivers, and other locations in the wilderness their homes.

At the heart of the Paldea region is its largest city, Mesagoza. It is here that you will find either Naranja Academy or Uva Academy, with their name, emblem and uniforms differing depending on whether you choose to play Pokémon Scarlet or Pokémon Violet.

The Pokédex will be loaded on your Rotom Phone as an app, as well as a map app that will let you see the entire Paldea region, your current location and information like nearby towns, Pokémon Centers and wild Pokémon.

After their release, Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet will be able to link with Pokémon HOME, a service that allows you to keep your entire Pokémon collection in one place. By linking these games with Pokémon HOME, you will be able to have Pokémon from other regions adventure alongside them in Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet.

Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet will release at retail and digitally on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch worldwide on 18th November 2022.
