CyberConnect2 want to release .hack//G.U. Last Recode on Nintendo Switch, but they need your help to make it become a reality.

With the portable home console breaking sales records around the world, the Fukuoka-based developer has pitched the idea to Bandai Namco Entertainment “several times” but the publisher remains concerned about porting costs and sales projections.

This came in response to a question about whether the studio has ever thought about porting .hack//G.U. Last Recode to Nintendo Switch, to which CyberConnect2 CEO Hiroshi Matsuyama responded:

“Of course, we have! We have actually made the proposal multiple times! Even during the production of Last Recode for PS4, we knew that Nintendo Switch was a huge hit all over the world and there was talk of releasing the game on Switch. But I don’t know if you are aware of this, but .hack series has always been released exclusively for PlayStation.

“Of course, Last Recode was released not only on PS4 but also on Steam. So it’s available on the digital distribution service on PC as well. But because of our long-standing relationship with PlayStation, I understand that it was difficult to release it on Switch then at the same time. But the idea of releasing Last Recode on Nintendo Switch itself is appealing. Frankly speaking, we’d love to do that!

“We have proposed the idea to Bandai Namco Entertainment several times. But their response was that it’s hard to predict the cost of porting and the sales prospects. For this reason, we were told that they were not able to make it happen and as a result, we haven’t been able to.

“So I highly encourage you, the users of Nintendo Switch, to contact Bandai Namco directly and let them know that you want to play .hack//G.U. Last Recode on Switch! The more requests, the better! Your requests might be able to change their mind because they value fans’ feedback the most!

“Of course, we will continue to make the request as well but we would love your support! We also want to release the game on Switch! Thank you for your support!”

.hack//G.U. Last Recode is now available for PlayStation 4 and PC worldwide.
