Studio MDHR has revealed a superb hand-crafted marionette trailer for Cuphead: The Delicious Last Course, which is coming to Nintendo Switch next year.
The expansion promises “a rollicking adventure on a previously undiscovered Inkwell Isle,” and will see the stalwart brothers Cuphead and Mugman joined by the all-new playable character Ms. Chalice – who will be known to fans of the original game as the wise Legendary Chalice.
You can expect new weapons, magical charms and Ms. Chalice’s unique abilities, with which you will be challenged to topple fearsome, larger-than-life bosses.
“We’re beyond thrilled to finally be sharing a release date for The Delicious Last Course with our fans,” explains Studio MDHR co-director Chad Moldenhauer. “As with so many of our fellow developers, creating games during these unique times has brought with it a host of challenges, and we’re so grateful to our Cuphead community for their patience and excitement as we’ve pushed to make The Delicious Last Course a true high watermark of the studio’s art, design, and animation.”
Studio MDHR chief operating officer Maja Moldenhauer adds: “Everyone really honed their craft during the course of development. We’re so proud of our talented team, and the meticulous care they put into every element of this expansion. There are individual phases of bosses in The Delicious Last Course that contain more frames of animation than entire bosses in the original Cuphead, and we think fans and newcomers alike will really appreciate the depth and detail on display!”
The developer has outlined the expansion’s key features as below:
- Featuring Ms. Chalice as a brand new playable character with a modified moveset and new abilities. Once acquired, Ms. Chalice is fully playable through the DLC and the original Cuphead adventure!
- Traverse a brand new Inkwell Isle and wallop the most wacky and monstrous bosses Cuphead has faced yet!
- Find new weapons and charms to aid you in overcoming brand new challenges and setting new records on old bosses!
- Help Chef Saltbaker on a brand new adventure to uncover the mystery of Legendary Chalice’s secret quest!
Cuphead: The Delicious Last Course will release on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch worldwide on 30th June 2022.
