With 2016 to mark Sonic’s 25th anniversary, it is unsurprising to learn that SEGA has been busily preparing a game to celebrate the occasion.

While the company is yet to announce any plans outside of Sonic Boom: Fire & Ice, Crush 40 singer Johnny Gioeli made passing mention of an “anniversary game” when answering questions from fans.

Asked as to when the band will share news about their next album, Gioeli responded in a since deleted Facebook post: “We are planning a few performances for 2016 to commemorate the anniversary of Sonic. We ‘might’ participate in writing new songs for the anniversary game… stay tuned…”

As to when SEGA will share what they have in store is unknown, but their blue blur has had a close association with Nintendo platforms over the past few years. We’ve had highs such as Sonic Colours but embarrassing lows in Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric, with Sonic Generations having been the company’s last anniversary title.

We’ll keep you up to speed once anything is announced!
