Square Enix has confirmed the resolution and framerate for Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII Reunion on Nintendo Switch.

Promising the game is “more than a remaster,” it will run at 720p (1280 x 720) and up to 30 frames per second in the portable home console’s TV and Handheld modes. However, the publisher adds that the described frame rate is a “variable frame rate with the described value as the maximum.”

“This is more than a remaster, a game that crosses generations and platforms,” explains executive producer Yoshinori Kitase. “We are very proud of all the amazing improvements that the dev team has been able to include in Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII Reunion.”

Originally released exclusively for the PlayStation Portable, the 2007 cult classic action RPG and prequel to Final Fantasy VII has been treated to a significant remaster.

The game follows the adventures of SOLDIER 1st Class Zack Fair on his mission to discover the whereabouts of the missing-in-action SOLDIER Genesis Rhapsodos. That quest will also let you witness earlier moments in the stories that surround characters such as Cloud Strife, Sephiroth, Aerith, Tifa and more.

The publisher has outlined the game’s key features as below:

  • All graphics fully remastered in HD, bringing the game to the latest console generation.
  • Renewed 3D models, including characters and backgrounds, enriching the visual experience.
  • Improved battle system providing a vastly smoother gameplay experience.
  • Fully voiced dialogue in both English and Japanese.
  • A newly arranged soundtrack from the original composer, Takeharu Ishimoto.

Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII Reunion will release at retail and digitally on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch worldwide on 13th December 2022.
