3D Realms and Interplay have revealed that Kingpin: Reloaded is in development for Nintendo Switch.

This has seen them remaster and enhance the classic Quake II engine game – a crime-themed first-person shooter set in a stylised noir art deco gangland that never was.

The Kingpin rules above all else with a bloody fist, and, when his lieutenant Nikki Blanco leaves a no-name Thug battered and broken, the upstart criminal is left with revenge in mind.

You must take down rival gangs to let the Kingpin know that his end is nigh, recruiting other gangsters through a conversation system and increasing the Thug’s influence through hub-based missions.

Your violent warpath will see you wield upgradeable weapons such as Tommy guns, bazookas, and more, with which you will deal location-based damage.

“Kingpin doesn’t get the recognition it deserves, due to unfortunately releasing in an era when games were blamed for societal problems,” explains 3D Realms founder Frederik Schreiber.

“We have the privilege of giving it a second chance for people who never heard of it, and sprucing it up for diehard fans yearning to go back to a life of (simulated!) crime.”

Kingpin: Reloaded will release on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch worldwide in 2020.
