Team17 has announced that My Time at Portia will release on Nintendo Switch, a sandbox simulation RPG that takes inspiration from games such as Harvest Moon, Stardew Valley, and Animal Crossing, mixed in with Dark Cloud 2 and Steambot Chronicles.

The game, which began as a successfully funded Kickstarter project, has art direction that has drawn inspiration from Castle in the Sky and Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind – names that will be familiar to those that adore Hayao Miyazaki’s work at Studio Ghibli.

After setting sail for Portia, the player arrives to find a workshop that has been left to them by their Pa. This is the place where you can begin to craft a new life, putting relics of the past to use in improving life for those that live in the town.

That will see you gather materials whether that be cutting down trees, foraging for herbs, mining in the ruins, or growing your own garden. With deserts, islands, reefs, highlands, and marshlands to explore, players will be faced with two different types of dungeon – abandoned dungeons stuffed with relics and ores to harvest, or more hazardous dungeons where they will encounter and battle monsters.

My Time at Portia will release on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch in late 2018.
