Conversations “On-Going” Around Netflix And YouTube On Nintendo Switch

The Nintendo Switch games library continues to grow each week, but, if there one surprising absence, it is that streaming services like Netflix and YouTube have not found their way to the portable home console yet.

While Hulu and Niconico are available on the Nintendo eShop, Nintendo of America president and chief operating officer Reggie Fils-Aime has reasoned that the absence of other services was purposeful in wanting to position Nintendo Switch “as a game-playing device.”

Now that consumers have reacted positively to that, “conversations are on-going” to bring more streaming services to the console.

“When we launched the Switch, we were very clear we wanted to position the device as a game-playing device. We’ve done that, and so you’ve seen Hulu, for example, come on to the platform,” Nintendo of America president and chief operating officer Reggie Fils-Aime explained to Bloomberg.

“In terms of other services, the conversations are on-going. We’ve got nothing to announce right now. But certainly, those opportunities will come in due time.”
