Artifex Mundi has announced their decision to delay Irony Curtain on Nintendo Switch, helping the team to avoid “excessive hours” to meet the original release date.
The satirical point-and-click adventure had been targeting release on the Nintendo eShop this week, but while the PC version will still come out on that date, the console ports will need a little longer.
“While internally we always had a date set for the 16th of May, we eventually saw that we could still make substantial improvements to the performance and controls of the console versions,” explains lead game designer Piotr Sułek.
“However to meet that original deadline for all four platforms would have been brutal and required excessive hours on our team. We’re strongly against this idea so it was a decided to at least release the PC version on time and still ensure high-quality console versions done in a time frame that didn’t strain our devs.”
Set in a totalitarian, communist Eastern European country, you play as Evan, a Western journalist, visiting the communist regime of Matryoshka for the first time.
This alternate reality is unbound by historical accuracy and will see you encounter sleeper spies, stolen secrets, and world-domination plots. With some non-linear puzzles, you are free to solve them in one of many ways.
And, then there’s the chance to meet the mysterious Leader who rules Matryoshka with an “irony” fist, the brave and witty Agent Anna, the notorious Minister of Propaganda, and others.
Irony Curtain will release on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch in Q2 2019, priced at €19.99 ($19.99).
