Square Enix has revealed that you can rescue cats for rewards in The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales, which is coming to both Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch.
“No matter the era, Philabieldia is filled with cats,” the publisher explains. If Elliot finds one, he can take it under his wing to bring it to a cat-fancying traveler in town who will reward Elliot for the number of cats he’s collected. Afterward, Elliot can care for and play with any cats he’s brought back.”
When you hear a cat’s meow during your adventure, you can search your immediate surroundings to locate it. The rewards that you receive will include helpful items, like those that will help you to find more cats or increase the number of arrows and bombs that Elliot can carry.
You can bond with the cats that you bring back to town from a selection of fish, meat and cheese. Each cat has different tastes, and filling them up on the flavours that they prefer will make them like you more. Once a cat has sufficiently bonded with you, you can invite them to the orphanage, where you can play with cat toys purchased from the item shop.

When a mysterious set of ruins is discovered just beyond the protective walls of the Kingdom of Huther, humanity’s sole bastion, a young adventurer named Elliot and his fairy companion, Faie, embark on a perilous journey – one that will unfold across the fabric of space and time.
The duo Elliot and Faie will traverse a vast world teeming with enemy hordes, hidden caves and ancient ruins. Elliot can wield seven weapon types – ranging from close-quarters swords to versatile chains and sickles that can reel in enemies.
Each weapon is customisable through magicite, allowing players to tailor their combat style. Faie’s powerful Fairy Actions are formidable in and out of battle, whether she’s striking enemies, retrieving hard-to-reach items, or aiding in exploration.
Those who pre-order the game’s physical edition or digitally on the Nintendo eShop will receive Elliot’s Departure Pack, which includes items that will give Elliot “an edge,” such as a Departure Brooch accessory, which increases the amount of currency and magicite fragments enemies drop, and Attack Up sword Magicite.
There is also a Digital Deluxe Edition available for pre-order, which includes the Fairy Bangle accessory, Cherry Blossom Anklet accessory and Roselle Ring accessory.
The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales will be released at retail and digitally on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch worldwide on 18 June 2026.
