SEGA has announced three characters that will be added to Sonic Racing: Crossworlds in free content updates, news that was shared in Sonic’s Birthday Livestream to mark the blue blur’s 35th Anniversary.
These new additions include Classic Sonic, who will be made available later today, Axel from the Crazy Taxi series (August 2026) and Amigo from Samba de Amigo (September 2026), who will be added to the roster in the coming months.
There will also be a new SEGA Music Collection that will be introduced, with “tracks to be added with each free character drop.” Tracks highlighted in the trailer include those from Rhythm Thief and the Emperor’s Treasure, Space Channel 5, and “Speed Is My Life,” which is a new song from Jun Senoue, NateWantsToBattle, Tee Lopes and Takahiro Kai to celebrate 35 years of Sonic.
We enjoyed our time with the blue blur’s kart racer, concluding in our review: “Sonic Racing CrossWorlds Nintendo Switch 2 Edition is a truly awesome experience, one whose track-switching gimmick never tires and manages to inject some surprise into a pretty well-worn genre. Inventive, exhilarating and a stellar presentation means the hedgehog’s hot streak of quality releases continues with what may be his best outing in some time. For me, Mario and Kirby can battle it out for second place when it comes to king of the kart racers this year.”
Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds is now available at retail and digitally on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch worldwide.
