It has now been clarified that Nintendo are not set to exhibit at the the 2011 International CES, following reports earlier in the week that they were to return after a 16-year hiatus.

Such confirmation was made through a second press release regarding the event by the Consumer Electronics Association, in which it was explained that Nintendo of America were erroneously listed amongst the list of exhibitors.

Whilst the company is still set to attend, they will only partake in occupying meeting rooms at the conference and are not to exhibit.

The news is a particular surprise, considering the event would be a the perfect opportunity for the company to place their upcoming 3DS handheld in the palms of the public – allowing further hype to build ahead of its launch.

Regardless, strong interest still remains and Nintendo are sure to hope that this will successfully translate to sales when the product hits its March release across Europe and the US.
