Decemberborn Interactive has announced that Cathedral: Crow’s Curse is in development for Nintendo Switch.
In this standalone prequel to Cathedral, you play as Crow, a skilled Shade Sentinel who was first introduced in the original game. The Shade Forest has become imbalanced, meaning that Crow must venture through cursed woods and forgotten ruins to discover the roots of the Sentinel order and confront the dark forces at its core.
Promising “fast, fluid and skill-based” combat, you will need to observe enemy patterns to time your dodges, blocks, parries and strikes. However, stealth plays a key role, meaning that you can choose to sneak past foes or ambush them with a punishing backstab.
“At Decemberborn Interactive, we’re passionate about making games that resonate with players,” explains Decemberborn Interactive founder and CTO Eric Lavesson. “Returning to the world of Cathedral and telling this story in our own way is something we’ve poured our hearts into. We hope that passion shines through in every part of Cathedral: Crow’s Curse.”
The developer has outlined the game’s key features, which include:
- Skill-Based Combat: Face challenging enemies and master fast, precision-based combat. Learn patterns, dodge, parry and time your strikes for maximum impact.
- Seamless, Hand-Crafted World: Explore a meticulously designed world that’s more interconnected and seamless than ever before.
- Stealth and Tactics: Sneak past vigilant foes or strike from the shadows with deadly backstabs. Enemies respond to sight, sound, and touch – stay quiet, stay hidden, strike quickly.
- Upgrades and Abilities: Discover powerful items, unlock expansive skill trees and acquire new movement abilities to aid your journey.
Cathedral: Crow’s Curse will be released digitally on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch worldwide, with a release date or window unspecified.
