While those in North America and Japan can enjoy Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker’s irrepressive delight this year, we knew that those in Europe would have to hold out until January.

We won’t be waiting long, with Nintendo today confirming that we can begin our treasure hunt on January 9th. And, as the Japanese overview trailer revealed, Toadette will be joining the adventure as a second playable character “in portions” of the Wii U exclusive.

There adventure begins when Wingo makes off with their only Power Star and captures Toadette. Players must then help Captain Toad retrieve the Power Star and save Toadette, putting an end to the giant, greed bird’s dastardly behaviour. That will take you across more than 70 puzzle stages, which were a surprise hit when they appeared in Super Mario 3D World last year.

Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker will launch in Japan on November 13th, North America on December 5th, and in Europe on January 9th.
