Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker director reveals secret Spin Attack

I absolutely adored waddling through Wii U exclusive Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker, but I had no idea that the adventurous Captain could perform his own spin attack!

It was one topic discussed by director Shinya Hiratake in a ‘Miiting,’ revealing that the backpack can play a more significant role other than weighing Captain Toad down. Turning around quickly in circles will allow the courageous character to launch a spin attack, knocking enemies aside with the weight of the backpack.

“This might be going off on a bit of a tangent, but another one of the questions we received was ‘Why did you include an attack for Captain Toad where he gets dizzy from spinning around?’ This action is actually supposed to be Captain Toad attacking enemies with his backpack!” Hiratake explained on Miiverse.

He continued, “We added it in because we wanted to give his backpack another purpose besides preventing him from jumping! We also wanted to add another means of attack besides throwing stuff, for players who have got used to playing the game!

“However, making this attack too convenient would affect the balance of the whole game, so we’ve also made it pretty vulnerable!”
