Those across Europe looking forward to unwrapping Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker this Christmas will be disappointed to discover that it won’t be arriving until January 2015.
The news came as part of the company’s first quarter earnings release, which was released today. The Wii U exclusive is still tracking a ‘winter 2014’ and ‘Holiday 2014’ release across Japan and North America as before, but whether these will fall in January remains to be clarified.
That firmly pegs Nintendo’s hopes to drive Wii U sales throughout the Christmas period through Hyrule Warriors, Bayonetta 2, Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and their amiibo figures, with third-party releases also hopefully lending a hand. That falls to Skylanders Trap Team, Disney Infinity: Marvel Super Heroes (2.0 Edition), Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric, LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham and, *ahem*, Watch_Dogs, to bump up the release schedule.
