Capcom Secures Monster Hunter World Trademark

After announcing that Monster Hunter XX will soon carve a path to Nintendo Switch, Capcom has filed a trademark for Monster Hunter World with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) and with the Norwegian Industrial Property Office (NIPO).

The standard character mark, which is directly owned by Capcom, was filed on 5th June 2017, and covers the trademark’s use in computer game software, whether that be on console, PC or smart phones – meaning that we have little clue as to what it specifically relates to.

It can be assumed that we will learn more at E3 2017, given the timing. If anything, after the increased success that Capcom saw with Monster Hunter Generations, we can hope that they are feeling more confident in the brand’s western potential.

With Monster Hunter Stories and a Hollywood movie adaptation already on the way, that certainly seems to be the case.
