Capcom Has No Plans For Monster Hunter World On Nintendo Switch

Capcom had announced that they were “starting to prepare” more Nintendo Switch games after Ultra Street Fighter II: The Final Challengers had outpaced their expectations, but don’t anticipate that Monster Hunter World will be among them.

That’s because it has been “perfectly adapted” to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, and Capcom would rather take the time to develop a game for Nintendo’s portable home console that was suited to the concept that players can play anytime, anywhere, and with anyone.

“Unfortunately we can’t really say at this point,” Monster Hunter World director Kaname Fujioka admitted to Eurogamer. “There’s no room to say we’re porting our current software to Nintendo hardware.

“It comes down to what we’ve already said – we want to deliver the perfectly adapted game for the hardware we have in mind. That was our design concept, and our mission from the very beginning. Being able to adapt Monster Hunter for those systems – adapting that to different hardware doesn’t really work this time around. But in the future, thinking of something like the Switch, we’ll think about how to adapt it for that platform.”

Capcom has been criticised for not being clear about any potential plans to localise Monster Hunter XX on Nintendo Switch, which saw release across Japan in August. At E3 2017, after widespread confusion after comments that were made in interviews, they shared that they had no plans to localise the game “at this time.”
