Somewhat miraculously provided to them after former Factor 5 president Julian Eggebrecht revealed the existence of the project days ago, IGN have now shared leaked gameplay footage for Star Wars: Rogue Leader – Rogue Squadron for Wii.

Whilst the project was completed, LucasArts were suffering “financial woes” and other publishers that stepped in were themselves affected by bankruptcy. The flimsily titled game brought together Nintendo 64’s Star Wars: Rogue Squadron as well as GameCube’s Star Wars Rogue Squadron II: Rogue Leader and Star Wars Rogue Squadron III: Rebel Strike in one package.

More than a mere port, Factor 5 implemented support for Wii MotionPlus, Wii Wheel and Balance Board peripherals, delivering competitive speeder bike racing levels and one-on-one lightsaber battles all at an improved 60 frames per second. A separate trailer shows off the game’s lightsaber duels, notably more impressive than Star Wars: The Clone Wars: Lightsaber Duels and far more exciting than Wii Sports Resort’s Swordplay.

We’ll leave you to witness what might have been…
