It has been interesting seeing the trickle of Nintendo Switch 2 Edition upgrades in the last month or so, with some expected games but also some surprises. Broken Sword: Shadow of the Templars Reforged, a remake of Broken Sword: The Shadow of the Templars, was released last October for Nintendo Switch and other platforms. The Switch version had touchscreen support and was a great way to experience the remade point-and-click adventure on the go.

Broken Sword: Shadow of the Templars Reforged Nintendo Switch 2 Edition got a surprise release just over a week ago, with an upgrade option for existing owners. This brings in 4K support docked and 1080p support in Handheld mode, and mouse controls with the Joy-Con 2. It already loaded quite fast on the original Switch, but the improved clarity and intuitive mouse input make this the best console version by far.

As for the mouse controls in Broken Sword: Shadow of the Templars: Reforged Nintendo Switch 2 Edition, you can enable them at any time by turning either Joy-Con 2 controller face down and using it like the mouse. The cursor appears immediately. You can play the whole game with a single Joy-Con 2 controller using mouse controls as well, with the R Button being the left interaction option while the ZR Button is used for the right interaction option.

If you already own Broken Sword: Shadow of the Templars: Reforged, the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition upgrade is definitely worth purchasing. If you don’t, I think that Broken Sword: Shadow of the Templars Reforged Nintendo Switch 2 Edition is the best console version. You have the ability to play it on the TV when docked, the option to use mouse controls with the Joy-Con 2, and even a full touchscreen portable experience. It delivers the most input options available and great visuals, regardless of how you choose to play through Revolution Software’s classic adventure.
